When PNL activities began in her village, her husband initially did not allow her to go outside alone. After seeing other women participating, Sarita joined the group after one year and was able to convince her husband to allow her participation.
After one year of group formation, Sarita became a member of the Durga Self Help Group (SHG) and started saving NPR 100 on a monthly basis. She received orientation and training on informal education, hygiene, and conflict management, group mobilization, good governance, participated in group discussing on current issues in the monthly meeting.
Her savings have now increased to NPR 300 per month. She has also taken loans whenever needed to support her family and business.
Sarita has gained confidence and now she became speaks publicly using sound system, even holding the microphone during meetings. She has learned to write her name and teaches her family about hand washing, cleanliness, and hygiene and whatever she learnt.
Now, her family became happy at home and has built good relationships among relatives and her neighbors. Her husband now supports her and is happy to send her to trainings at the ward office and Mayadevi rural municipality.
Participation in the SHG and support from PNL have significantly transformed Sarita’s life.
