
When PNL activities began in her village, Rampa was initially afraid to attend the meetings, as she had never been a member of any group in her community before. After attending in the group meeting, she understood about the importance of the group and she became involved in the group as a member Durga SHG.
After that she started saving NPR 50 per month, which later increased to NPR 100. She received different kind of orientation and training but she focused on informal education and personal hygiene because now she can write her name because of informal education and she aware on personal hygiene and sanitation which help to that prevent communicable disease more than before. And she benefited from irrigation project too. Her savings have now increased to NPR 300 per month. She has taken loans to expand her chaumin (noodles) business. The earning money is used to pay for her children’s school fees and to continue saving in the SHG.
Rampa has gained confidence and now talks openly with others in her village. She has learned to write her name and teaches her family about personal hygiene and hand washing. Her family sells vegetable more than before. After joining the group, she built good relationships with her neighbors. She has also learned household cleaning skills and she like to share to others what she learnt. There is not any quarreling at her home and her husband now supports to her most of the activities. Rampa give credits to SHG and PNL that her participation in the SHG for these positive changes, which have transformed her life.
PNL is a local nonprofit organization established in 2056 which is located in Butwal-9, Rupandehi. It main purpose are Rehabilitation Program for people with physical disability, Health care and Rehabilitation program for leprosy affected people and Empowerment for Transformation of Marginalized Community.
