    Anita Kumari

    Anita Kumari Lodh is a 30 year old mother of three children who lives with her husband, three sons, and mother in law. She lives in Mayadevi rural municipality ward no.2 Kuttawa. Her husband works as a teacher in a government school. Anita does cultivation and agriculture and focused vegetable farming, which the support to income .They sells vegetable in local market. She has small goat keeping farm. She felt afraid to talk with new people. Before the project came to her village, Anita mostly stayed at home, did household work, and felt afraid of new people. "Being part of the group opened doors she had never imagined, helping her gain confidence, learned and handover new skills and inspire her family and community while earning an income."

    Introduction to the Project

    When PNL activities began in her village, she did not like to attend in the meeting. PNL staff requested to her to participate in the group meeting. Anita attended the meetings, joined the group, and studied informal education.

    Involvement in the Project

    Anita became a member of Durga Self Help Group (SHG) and started saving NPR 50 per month. She received training on group dynamics, informal education, cleanliness and hygiene, sewing, and garland making which women is wearing on their neck. Her savings have now increased to NPR 300 per month. She has also taken loans upgrade goat keeping and vegetable farming. She received basic tailoring training from PNL. She is active a participant in the group.

    Outcomes/Changes

    Anita has gained confidence and is now able to speak publicly. She has learned to write her name and teaches her family about hand washing, cleanliness, and hygiene. She is happy to skill transfer to others. She got the opportunity to participate in many trainings organized by PNL and Mayadevi Rural Municipality. Anita is now able to go out alone, earns income by sewing clothes and making and selling necklaces and bracelets, and no longer quarrels with her neighbors. She also teaches her children and neighbors about cleanliness.Anita feels that being part of the SHG and the support from PNL have brought significant positive changes to her life.

    PNL is a local nonprofit organization established in 2056 which is located in Butwal-9, Rupandehi. It main purpose are Rehabilitation Program for people with physical disability, Health care and Rehabilitation program for leprosy affected people and Empowerment for Transformation of Marginalized Community.
